How to Multiply in Google Sheets
Multiply cells with the * operator, multiply a whole column at once, or use PRODUCT and SUMPRODUCT for many numbers.
=A2*B2
Multiplies the value in A2 by the value in B2. Fill down to multiply each row.
How it works
Google Sheets multiplies with the asterisk *. For a running column of results, write =A2*B2 in the first row and fill down, or use ARRAYFORMULA to do the whole column in one formula. PRODUCT multiplies many cells together, and SUMPRODUCT multiplies pairs and adds the results.
Variations
Multiply an entire column in one cell
=ARRAYFORMULA(A2:A100*B2:B100)
Fills the results down automatically without dragging.
Multiply by a fixed number
=A2*1.2
Adds 20% — handy for tax or markup. Lock a cell with $ to reference a rate: =A2*$E$1.
Multiply several cells together
=PRODUCT(A2:A5)
Same as A2*A3*A4*A5.
Multiply pairs then total (qty x price)
=SUMPRODUCT(A2:A100, B2:B100)
Multiplies each quantity by its price and sums the lot.

Is there a MULTIPLY function in Google Sheets?
There is a MULTIPLY(a, b) function for exactly two numbers, but most people just use the * operator: =A2*B2.
